Start a CoW Chapter in your school or community

Help us expand our core circle and organize a group of volunteers to contribute to one of Circle of Women’s existing projects and make an impact on women’s education!

Preliminary Questions: If you are interested in getting involved, please submit answers to the following questions along with your contact information, the names of potential members, and your anticipated involvement.

- How did you hear about Circle of Women?
- Why would you like to start a branch of the organization?
- Where would your proposed branch be located and what would be your demographic?
- What would you like to get out of a relationship with Circle of Women and what would you like to give back to Circle of Women through that relationship?

Steps to Starting a Chapter

1. Form an executive team. The size of your team will depend on the number of volunteers you have, but we recommend aiming for one of at least four members to fulfill the following positions: President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. This is important to have before your first open meeting as it will help solidify the organization.

- Each member of the executive team will need to fill out a Personal Information Form and send it to CoW headquarters for record keeping purposes. Each year as new members are elected new forms will have to be completed.

2. Obtain Recognition for your University (Does not apply if you are not at in school.)

- Each school has a different process for approving student groups, so contact your Office of Student Activities to see how it's done!

- You will probably need documents to help explain your organization's mission and structure. Here are some things to help! Our Media Kit and Constitution.

3. Each member of the executive team will have to sign a Circle Chapter Terms Form and mail it to:

Circle of Women

P.O. Box 381365

Cambridge, MA 02238

4. At the end of each fiscal year, each chapter will submit a Report Form, which outlines their activities during that year.

5. Let us help! Any questions you might have along the way, please don't hesitate to contact us at circumference@circleofwomen.org. We will get back to you asap!
